Red hot Bansal blasts to victory at Snetterton and Wilson wins as Guinchard extends GB4 lead

Elite Motorsport’s Ary Bansal enjoyed his best day of the GB4 Championship season as he claimed both pole positions on offer in qualifying and then led every lap of race one to clinch his second win of the campaign.

Race one

Bansal made a good start from pole to move out of range of any potential lap one challenge. Isaac Phelps held onto second while Dan Guinchard climbed to third off the line ahead of Luke Hilton, with both passing an out of position Leandro Juncos in the opening seconds of the event.

Like in qualifying, Bansal and Phelps were evenly matched, with the pair rarely separated by more than half a second. Despite the pressure, Bansal crossed the line at the end of the race with a six tenth of a second margin to Phelps, while Guinchard kept the top two in check to secure third.

Race two

Bansal’s perfect start to the event continued in race two, as he held the lead at the start and then pulled out an advantage of 1.5 seconds. From third on the grid, Guinchard climbed into second off the line, and then rapidly closed Bansal’s lead late on, though he resisted to win by 0.4 seconds, while Douglas Motorsport’s Hilton claimed his first GB4 podium in third place, ahead of Elite’s front row starter Phelps.

Race three

Leon Wilson started third on the grid for the top 12 reverse finale but moved into second past Alex Berg on lap one and then dove past pole sitter Jack Taylor moments later to take the lead.

Bansal’s dream weekend came to an abrupt end on the first lap as he was swiped out of contention, leading to a lengthy Safety Car period. When the race resumed, there was still enough time for three more racing laps, but Wilson made a strong restart and claimed a breakthrough victory with a half second margin to Fortec’s Taylor, while Berg held off a challenge from Tom Ingram Hill to claim his second podium of the season.

The 2025 campaign reached its midway point after race two, with was also the GB4 Championship’s 75th race, at the venue where the series made its debut in 2022. The series returns to action at Silverstone on 2/3 August, alongside the GB3 Championship.
