Phelps marches back into GB4 Championship title race as he dominates to double up at Brands Hatch

Elite Motorsport’s Isaac Phelps reignited his GB4 title aspirations with a faultless Saturday on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit, before claiming his second win of the weekend on Sunday morning.

Race one

Phelps made full use of his pole to lead the field on the run to Paddock Hill Bend on lap one, holding off Ary Bansal and Daniel Guinchard – who were in close contention.

From there, Phelps steadily built a lead, growing his advantage to over four seconds before a late Safety Car, deployed when Luke Hilton beached his car in the gravel at Stirling’s. The race ended under neutralised conditions, with Phelps claiming his third win of the year ahead of Bansal and Guinchard, who completed the podium.

Race two

Phelps made a good start from pole, but fellow front row starter Guinchard looked to challenge for the lead down Pilgrims Drop and into Hawthorns, but Phelps was able to hold the inside line, and in the process, Ary Bansal was able to squeeze past into second.

Phelps pulled clear at the front, securing his fourth win of the season by over nine seconds, while championship leader Guinchard had to settle for third.

Due to an incident in a support race, race three will now be held at Donington Park during the final weekend of the season on 4/5 October. Heading into that quadruple header, Guinchard holds a reduced championship lead of 21 points from Phelps, who has moved up to second ahead of Bansal. The top three drivers are covered by 25 points, with 134 points up for grabs.
