Young Drivers

The British Racing Drivers’ Club is, arguably, the most exclusive club in motor racing. With a membership that numbers only 850, it is home to the most successful racing drivers from Great Britain and the Commonwealth.

Only those who have met the exacting entry criteria have achieved at the highest levels of the sport or made a significant contribution to enable others to do so are admitted, meaning Membership of the BRDC is highly sought after and extremely difficult to achieve. The list of Members, past and present, reads like a ‘Who’s Who’ of motor sport.

With this in mind, the BRDC runs two young driver programmes; the BRDC SuperStars and the BRDC Rising Stars, helping to promote and further the careers of talented individuals.

Once scouted by a member of the ‘Rising Stars Scouts Panel’, a driver is invited to Silverstone for an informal meeting. Following this meeting, the driver will be invited to become a Rising Star, and providing his or her career continues with upward momentum, the ability to stay on the scheme until the end of the year in which they have their 24th birthday.

The BRDC SuperStars are the very elite of young British racing drivers. Just over 100 drivers have benefitted from the unique advice and guidance the Club has to offer. Graduates of it have achieved notable success at high level, international motorsport, including current Formula 1 World Championship drivers Lando Norris, George Russell, and Alex Albon.

Each individual BRDC SuperStar Member receives a tailored programme of assistance, which is designed to help further their career in motorsport. These include fitness regimes, negotiation skills, simulator access, sponsorship activation, media training, driver coaching, race engineering assistance, and business networking and connections.
