It is with regret that the Club has to announce the death of Associate Member George Byford after a short illness on Monday 22 September. George was BRDC Chief Scrutineer for 14 years of his 25 years scrutineering at Silverstone although his involvement in motor racing started as a mechanic in 1948-1950, followed by 15 years as a flag marshal. George served as a member of the RAC Technical Committee between 1974 – 1988 and was elected an Associate Member of the Club in 1979.
George's funeral will take place on Thursday 16 October at 2pm at St Johns C of E Church, Church Street, Stanground, Peterborough.
