YOUNG MEMBERS ROUND-UP JULY 11-12: PODIUM FOR ZAMPARELLI
BRDC Rising Star Dino Zamparelli recorded his first podium of the season in the Protyre Formula Renault BARC Championship at Croft yesterday.
The 16-year-old’s weekend did not start off so well as he suffered a puncture in practice and was disappointed to only qualify eighth for race one and subsequently struggled with set-up for the race. Struggling with the car Dino finished up on the grass which was sodden thanks to a downpour, sending him flying in to the barrier and out of the race.
Race two saw the Bristol-based driver start from sixth and with a newly found confidence he was picking off his rivals and moved up in to second position ready to take a podium finish for the first time in 2009.
BRDC Superstar Adam Christodoulou was in action at the Iowa Speedway over the weekend in the Star Mazda Series.
The 20-year-old finished the race in fifth place and managed to avoid a host of crashes which caused several interruptions to the race.
BRDC Rising Star Martin Plowman finished in 12th in the Firestone Indy Lights race on the Toronto street course.
