WORLD AEROBATIC CHAMPIONSHIPS TO CONTINUE
The organisers of the World Aerobatic Championships have confirmed today (August 24) that the competition being held at Silverstone will continue.
There was a doubt whether the championships would carry on following the tragic death of pilot Vicki Cruse on Saturday, which is now being investigated by the Air Accidents Investigation Branch.
A statement from the World Aerobatic Championships organisers read: “Following a period of quiet reflection and a further safety review, I can confirm that the 2009 World Aerobatic Championships will continue.
“Flying is now planned for 24th, 25th, 28th and 29th August. The public days on Friday and Saturday will therefore continue as planned. We still have hopes of completing enough flights to be able to declare overall Men's and Women's Champions and Team Champions, as well as the World Freestyle Aerobatic Champion, on Saturday afternoon.”
