RUBENS BARRICHELLO WINS IN MONZA
Rubens Barrichello took victory in the Italian Grand Prix yesterday as Brawn GP secured a one-two with Jenson Button also returning to the podium for the first time since the Turkish Grand Prix in June.
Lewis Hamilton went into the lead at the start while BRDC Full Member Mark Webber failed to see the end of the first lap after finding himself in the gravel trap.
Lewis was on a light fuel load and after pitting he struggled to keep up with the pace of the Brawn pairing of Rubens and Jenson.
With Rubens only on a one-stop strategy, he made his time out on track count to pull away into a secure lead.
BRDC Full Member Jenson was safely in second and it had looked like an all-BRDC Member podium, but Lewis was not to secure his third place as he lost control of his McLaren Mercedes on the final lap, bringing out the safety car.
BRDC Honorary Member Rubens held on for victory ahead of Jenson while the final BRDC Member on track, Fernando Alonso, was fifth.
Silverstone-based Force India, managed by BRDC Associate Member Andy Stevenson, had another good weekend with Adrian Sutil finishing fourth.
