NOTICE OF DEATH - MARTIN HINES

It is with regret that the Club has to announce the death of Full Member Martin Hines, who passed away on the 28th August.

Martin, who was elected to the BRDC in 2001, won 17 karting titles including the World Championship in 1983, 91 and 92. He started his karting business, Zip Kart, in 1964, which built and prepared karts for other drivers and pioneered the Superkart which became Formula ‘E’. Known as ‘Mr Karting’ Martin acquired Grand Prix Racewear in 2009 and re-located Zip Kart to this facility at Silverstone in 2011. Martin will also be particularly remembered for his passion for helping the careers of young British drivers, playing a role in the early career progression of many of today’s stars.

Condolences have been passed to Tina, Luke and Tuesday. Funeral arrangements will be confirmed when available.
