JOHN GRANT WINS MIA AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTION TO THE MOTORSPORT INDUSTRY
On the evening of Tuesday 27 June at the House of Lords, John Grant, Vice-President of the BRDC, was presented with the most prestigious personal Award of the Motorsport Industry Association (MIA).
Two hundred motorsport business and political leaders joined The Rt Hon. The Lord Astor of Hever PC DL, MIA President, to applaud his outstanding contribution.
This Award recognises outstanding personal contribution to the motorsport industry and past winners include Toto Wolff, Ross Brawn OBE, Sir Jackie Stewart and Adrian Newey OBE amongst many others.
Chris Aylett, CEO of the MIA commented “A great winner! John’s arrival as Chairman of the BRDC coincided with the most challenging period in the nearly 100-year history of the Club. The switch of F1 from Bernie Ecclestone to Liberty was not without difficulties and the future of a Grand Prix at Silverstone hung in the balance for some time.
With a mix of experienced business acumen, good communication and the determination of a race driver, John secured a contract which gave Silverstone a chance to show their real potential, which they have done. The outcome from his leadership underpins current negotiations between Liberty and the BRDC which we all hope will be successful”.
