FERRARI & THE BRDC

26th March 2010.

Ferrari North Europe, in partnership with the British Racing Drivers’ Club, is to create a unique experience at the famous Silverstone Circuit to brighten the lives of a group of seriously and terminally-ill children from the Starlight Children’s Foundation and young carers and seriously ill children supported by BEN, the automotive industry benevolent fund.

On Tuesday 4th May, 50 children will each experience the thrill of being driven around the world-famous Silverstone Circuit in a Ferrari California. Accompanying them will be professional racing drivers from the British Racing Drivers’ Club, together with a number of “BRDC SuperStars”, young stars of the future who are receiving guidance and training from the BRDC in the quest to become professional drivers and household names of tomorrow.

The event is being held in conjunction with two leading charities: the Starlight Children's Foundation, which brightens the lives of seriously and terminally ill children by granting their wishes, and the automotive industry benevolent fund, BEN, which provides care and support for those in the automotive industry.

Each child will enjoy a 15-minute passenger ride in the Ferrari California around the Silverstone circuit. Their families meanwhile will have access to the exclusive BRDC Clubhouse, which is decorated with evocative images of racing cars and memorabilia from the BRDC that charts Silverstone’s illustrious history.

Matteo Torre, Ferrari North Europe’s Regional Manager, commented: “It is our honour and privilege to create a truly memorable day for these children. It was Enzo Ferrari who once said “A Ferrari is a dream. For most people it will remain a dream, apart from those lucky few.” On 4th May, these deserving children from Starlight and BEN will be among those few whose dreams came true.”
