NOTICE OF DEATH - BILL STONE
It is with regret that the Club has to announce the death of Full Member, Bill Stone, who passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer.
A New Zealander by birth, Bill became a Full Member in 2000 having originally raced successfully for several years in the 1960s in the Tasman Cup before coming to Europe in 1968 to race in British and European F3. Bill became the first employee of March Engineering as Workshop Manager in 1969 and then in 1973 co-founded Sabre Automotive with Adrian Reynard.
Bill held many other management roles within the motor sport industry with companies such as the ATS Formula 1 team, Vern Schuppan Ltd, Ray Mallock Ltd and Andy Rouse Engineering. In 1996 Bill returned to Reynard Racing Cars to project manage the Chrysler North American Touring Car series before transferring to British American Racing in 1997, where he held the position of Operations Manager.
In retirement Bill lived in New Zealand where he raced his Mallock U2 Mk 6B in historic events with great enthusiasm, proudly wearing the Club badge.
A family funeral will be held on Friday 13 April with a memorial service to be arranged. Condolences have been passed to Bill’s wife, Susanne.
