Membership
Membership of the British Racing Drivers’ Club is highly sought after and offered only to those who have achieved success at the highest levels of motor sport.
Membership is split into the following categories:
Life:
Any paid up Member who has been a Full Member for twenty years may apply to the Directors for Life Membership.
The Directors may grant Life Membership to such Member at a fee which in their absolute discretion they shall prescribe.
Full:
Full Membership of the Club is confined to ladies and gentlemen of British and Commonwealth nationality whom the Board consider to be eligible and who have complied with the following minimum criteria:
(i) Applicants must have competed in at least three seasons’ racing (not necessarily consecutive) and with participation in at least eight races in each season.
(ii) In any one season they must have been classified as a finisher in not less than six races.
(iii) Applicants must also comply with the following:
a) they must have been placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd in General Classification in at least four races; or
b) where competing in races of not less than 500km or 3hours with more than one class, they have to have either:
1) won their class (there being not less than six starters) in three or more races; or
2) won the class (with at least six starters) of such a race forming part of the FIA World Endurance Championship, the Japanese Super GT Championship or the IMSA Sports Car Championship (or such other multi-class races as the Directors shall from time to time nominate);
provided that where more than one driver drives the same car in a race, each driver may count the event only if they have driven for a minimum of of 30% of the race distance covered by the car.
All qualifying races must be within categories approved by the Directors from time to time and of any ASN National A or International status.
Exceptional performance in Historic races may be considered at the discretion of the Directors. Applicants must be proposed and seconded by Full or Life Members of the Club of at least three years standing.
The Directors reserve the right also to elect, in exceptional circumstances, ladies and gentlemen whom they consider desirable as Full Members whether or not they have complied with the aforementioned conditions.
BRDC Full or Life Members may propose or second up to three new Full Member applications in one calendar year.
Board Members and Associate and Honorary Members are not eligible as proposers or seconders.
References in these Articles to Full Members as gentlemen and the use of words in such connection implying the masculine gender shall be deemed to include references to ladies and words implying the feminine gender.
Associate:
Associate Membership of the Club shall be restricted to ladies and gentlemen whom the Board consider desirable as Members because they have made an exceptional contribution to British Motor Sport over a considerable period of time, and who are not qualified for Full Membership.
Applicants must be proposed and seconded by Full or Life Members of the Club of at least five years standing.
The Directors reserve the right also to elect, in exceptional circumstances, ladies and gentlemen whom they consider desirable as Associate Members whether or not they have complied with the aforementioned conditions.
BRDC Full or Life Members may propose or second up to three new Associate Member applicantions in one calendar year.
Board Members and Associate and Honorary Members are not eligible as proposers or seconders.

Honorary:
Honorary Membership shall be by invitation of the Directors only. The number of Honorary Members shall be limited to a maximum set by the Directors from time to time.
Qualifying Categories:
The following is the list of championships in which participation qualifies the applicant for Full membership of the BRDC. Please note that there are conditions attached to the use of certain championships below in connection with a membership application, such as a requirement to have finished in the top four for that season to count as eligible and certain championships are only eligible between a certain range of years. As such, applicants should check their current position with the Club office or their proposer or seconder, prior to submitting a membership application.
